Saw X
This kept it simple and focused on the core concept of the franchise… don’t do bad shit or Jon Kramer will make you bleed. Some might find it hard to have sympathy for a serial killer in Jigsaw but this came about as close as possible to making you empathize with Kramer and his last-ditch efforts at being cured of cancer.
While there is an overarching motif of the medical system being fucked throughout these movies (which it is), I like the direction they took with this which feels pretty relevant in an era where we see people trying to get rich quick by exploiting others without a second thought or just blatant dismissal of the impact it has.
Some gruesome, skin crawly, nail biting traps that are quite brutal combined with a story that pays off little moments that occur throughout the movie make for a Saw film near the top of the pecking order for the franchise. They did do the Saw thing of over-explaining some aspects at the end but those are easily forgivable given the movie was a fun time with our favorite puppet creating, trap making, wanna play a game serial killer.
Amanda was also in full bitch mode and I love it!
